Mold is an important basic process forming equipment in industrial production, and is often referred to as the "mother of industry". With the rapid development of China's automobile industry, automobile molds have become the most important part of my country's mold industry, and the scale of the industry continues to expand. Driven by the national automobile lightweight policy, the development of automobile lightweight is an inevitable trend, which will effectively promote the development of injection molds. The demand for automobile molds is not decreasing, and the industry scale is expanding steadily. According to statistics, more than 95% of automobile parts need to rely on molds for mass processing and manufacturing. In the development of a new car, more than 20,000 automobile parts are needed, including Sheet metal parts, die-casting parts, stamping parts, plastic parts, electronic vitality parts, etc. In the process of R&D and manufacturing of these parts, a large number of molds and fixtures are required, and the demand for molds is the largest.

Generally speaking, in the development of a new car, more than 1,500 sets of automobile stamping dies, more than 800 sets of plastic molds, more than 300 sets of sheet metal molds, and more than 100 sets of die-casting molds are required. Therefore, every time a complete vehicle is changed, several thousand sets of molds are required, which are worth hundreds of millions of yuan. For example, the value of a full set of body die for Volkswagen Passat is more than 250 million yuan. With the upgrading of people's consumption experience, the requirements for automobiles are constantly increasing, prompting auto companies to continuously upgrade original automobiles or develop new models, and the market demand for automobile molds is only increasing.
According to calculations, China's automobile molds account for about 1/3 of the market share of the mold industry. According to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics, the sales revenue of my country's automobile molds in 2017 was 266.342 billion yuan. Based on this, the 2017 China automobile mold market is estimated. The scale has reached 88.8 billion yuan. It is expected that in 2018, the scale of the automotive mold industry will continue to expand, and the market size will exceed 90 billion yuan. In the future, with the further acceleration of automobile remodeling speed, automobile molds will also usher in more room for development, and the development prospects are worth looking forward to.
Automobile lightweighting is the general trend, and the prospects for injection molds are promising. From the perspective of the material of automobile molds, they can be divided into metal molds, plastic molds and inorganic non-metallic molds. At present, my country's mold manufacturing is still dominated by metal molds. With the need for environmental protection and energy saving, automobile lightweight has become one of the main trends in the development of automobile design in the world. Tests have shown that for every 10% reduction in vehicle mass, fuel efficiency can be increased by 6-8%; and for every 100 kg reduction in vehicle mass, fuel consumption per 100 kilometers can be reduced by 0.3-0.6 liters.
