What properties does a polyurethane elastomer have

The biggest characteristic of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers is that they are elastic and have good mechanical strength while obtaining high hardness. The tensile strength of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer is usually 30 ~ 45MPa, and the fracture elongation is usually between 400 ~ 800%.The shaw hardness ranges from 65A to 80D as the components change. In general, as the hardness increases, the pure polyurethane shows: tensile strength and tear strength increase;Decreased elongation;Improved oil resistance;Compression strength increased;Dynamic heat generation increases.

Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers have excellent tearing resistance, and tear strength is related to tensile strength (although not proportional), and increases with the increase of polymer hardness.

The compression and permanent deformation properties of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers are related to polymer type, crosslinking degree, post-vulcanization or sample state adjustment.Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers with mild crosslinking tend to have lower compression permanent deformation values, especially at higher temperatures. The post-vulcanization of samples can greatly reduce the compression deformation, especially the permanent deformation at high temperature.
