Two-shot, also referred to as dual-shot, double-shot, multi-shot and overmolding, is a plastic molding process in which two different plastic resins are molded together in a single machining cycle, as illustrated below.

What is the difference between 2k and overmold?
2k tends to be a lot bigger than overmoulding and is used for larger operations.
In the overmoulding process, the material used must be cold to be removed. However with 2k moulding, the polymer is typically still flexible and hot — therefore it allows for more greater functionality.
How does doubleshot work?
One material is injected into a product, and then on the two-shot machine, it jumps to the mold cavity corresponding to another injection barrel by turning the mold. The part is used as an insert, and another material is injected into it to form an integrated two-material product
